Holos Architecture + Design, in collaboration with Pine and Peak Builders, has broken ground on Seamless Sanctuary, a 1,300 sq. ft. mountain residence in Fairplay, Colorado. This follows last year’s release of renderings.
“It’s always a relief to see a project move into construction,” said Rushika Gill, AIBC, NCARB, Founder and Principal of Holos Architecture. “You get through permitting and the loan process, and now we can move forward.”
Guided by biophilic design, the home connects daily life to the site through views, daylight, materials, natural ventilation, and native planting. A key feature is a site-sourced stone retaining wall that aims to anchor the structure into the slope. Excavated rock will be processed through a rock classifier, then cleaned before installation. “The most exciting thing for me is the retaining wall,” Gill said. “Concrete pours start soon. Once framing is done, I’m excited to see it clad in stone.”
Inside, a linear plan will orient every room to valley views on the north. Operable clerestory windows along the south corridor will support natural ventilation and passive comfort. Interior design will progress during construction, including elevations and finish selections.
The home is expected to be completed in early 2026. “Fairplay’s climate is less snowy than nearby mountain areas, so we expect to maintain progress through winter,” Gill said.
“This is one of my favorite projects to date,” she added. “It will be one of my most important portfolio pieces, personally, as an architect. I’m excited to see it come to life.”
