Designed for a young family of five with a revered connection to the outdoors, the A-frame is carefully nestled on a wooded plot to minimize impact on existing trees.
Pressed tightly against the rear property setback, the structure sits atop a steep hill, bringing its inhabitants closer into the tree canopy. The cabin’s design balances simplicity with spatial richness, creating a versatile, intimate retreat that embraces its natural surroundings.
“A-frames often present challenges in spatial efficiency due to their steeply sloped walls, but the utilization of the residual volume under the peak of the roof as the perfect child-sized play loft was one of our favorite moves!”

With its steeply pitched roof and compact footprint, the architecture respects traditional A-frame typology while the interior reinterprets the form with modern functionality. A streamlined layout maximizes efficiency within the 1,000 sq. ft. footprint, incorporating a sleeping loft, and a secondary play loft, thoughtfully integrated with a half bath.
“The open lofts foster dynamic sightlines across the interior, enhancing the spatial connection between floors.”
