A utility space reimagined. A once-forgotten detached garage is transformed into a bright, modern flex space — designed for living, working, gathering, and retreating.
The project balances simplicity, resourcefulness, and a deep respect for the potential of existing structures.
“The space was approached with a light touch and a clear intent: to elevate what was already there. Sustainability and adaptability were central to the design process, with every decision guided by how the space could evolve and serve over time.”

The garage’s original footprint and function remained legible — nothing forced, nothing excessive. All built-in elements were positioned at the periphery, preserving the openness of the center and allowing for effortless reconfiguration.
“Thoughtfully reimagined, the garage now holds room for many lives to unfold — intimate dinners, creative work, slow mornings, and everything in between.”

Materials were selected with care — not for their newness, but for their story. An L-shaped granite countertop from Marketplace shaped the layout of the kitchenette. A vintage Crane utility sink was repurposed for the vanity, restored with a coat of paint. Most appliances, fixtures, and furnishings are secondhand or salvaged, from wire storage shelves to stainless steel legs now refitted with casters.
At just 420 square feet, the space flexes with ease. Home office, gym, guest quarters, art studio, entertainment lounge — its open-plan core adapts fluidly, supported by movable elements like a rolling island and modular furniture.
The design preserves the option to revert to vehicle parking if needed, ensuring long-term utility without compromise.
