What began as a simple stacked rectangular form evolved into an architectural dialogue between two intersecting volumes, each rotated to respond to the specific needs of its program.
The lower volume anchors the public spaces—open, communal, and connected to the outdoor pool and living areas—while the upper volume holds the private quarters: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a den oriented toward uninterrupted water views to ground the family’s daily rituals.
“Working with a physical model really enhances the design process. Being able to move a lamp to mimic the sun’s path gives you instant visual feedback—it reveals the spatial quality in a way that digital tools often can’t capture.”

The south-facing facades are articulated with horizontal wood screens, creating a distinctive architectural rhythm while filtering sunlight throughout the day.
These screens not only add variation and depth to the exterior, but also introduce a temporal quality to the interiors—where shifting shadows move across surfaces, tracing time.

The volumes are kept deliberately pure, wrapped in smooth stucco and punctuated by vertical wood accents at carefully chosen moments.
Horizontal wood screening and subtle stucco reveals emphasize the building’s linearity, giving the impression that the upper volume stretches outward—reaching beyond the lower form at both ends.
The lower public level, while intentionally closed off on the approach side, opens fully toward the outdoor living area and pool patio through expansive retractable glass walls. This blurs the boundary between indoors and out, extending the living space well beyond its conditioned square footage.
“The project is a testament to the power of simplicity—pure forms, a clear concept, and honest materials coming together to create something beautiful and evocative.”
